Hey!

Why haven't I made a post yesterday? I managed to finish my project, which took all day, and in the meantime, I got to learn more about how GNOME workspaces work! Let's talk about that

Day 3

So, to preface this, I've never been much of a virtual desktop kind of person, I've always just stuck to one and I have been happy. Yes, of course there were tons of clutter and general garbage, but I just considered that part of The Thing™.

Trying to get into the workspace way of working has never really worked for me when I tried it in other DEs, and in other ones it's been more out of necessity, not a personal preference. That might just have changed that. A bit of brainstorming earlier that day has made me revert one of the few tweaks I've made to GNOME and remove the minimize button. Honestly? I haven't missed it. After all that though, I'm still worried.

Why? Most of it is just me being prone to peer pressure. Everyone I'm around absolutely HATES GNOME, and I used to be one of those people too, this has all been a test if I can even stand this DE still, after all. Thing is, I can. Forcing oneself to use something will inevitably make them try to adjust to the quirks and special things it requires, but people don't like something strange and new. GNOME is nice, the developers might not be, but there's something to like here.

...alright? Everyone that loathes GNOME is gone now, right? Let's keep going then.

The Quirk™

I still had a ton of work to do, and after noticing an oversight in the image I've been drawing over in Kolourpaint, I had to get back into it and fix it. Honestly, I didn't care about the visual glitch anymore, but... A photo of irrigation

It Has Fixed itself? I couldn't believe my eyes, I did NOTHING, and it started looking okay again. It's nothing good, but it's not unusably terrible either. If you're reading this and you know what happened, please tell me, I'm dying to know.

Day 4

I'm going to be honest. Today I haven't really been on the Desktop much, instead, I've spent time messing around with my laptop outside in the backyard. I put Fedora MATE on it and I'm REALLY enjoying that. Hope it doesn't break the rules or anything, but that device is just incapable of running anything heavier, let alone GNOME. Even Plasma runs like garbage on that. Next challenge could be MATE, perhaps? Maybe. I need my Wayland.

That'll be it for now. I'll give you a little peek at what my writing workspace looks like. It's not tiled, in any way (unlike my other desktops), nor is there a reason for it to be, but it works fine for me... Desktop image
