A Week with GNOME - Day 2
Issues plenty
What's with that description?
Well, depending on your definition of the thing, I may have just failed the challenge.
Day 2:
Oh no, what's up?
Today, I started work on an important project due on Sunday. For that, I needed a text editor, no issues there, everything was fine. I was surprised as to how focused I was on my work by having absolutely nothing else bothering me at that moment.
What's wrong with that, sounds great!
Well, later I had to draw on top of some simple images. I have tried to download Drawing (an app that I have contributed translations to), but it appeared that it simply did not do what i needed it to do. Eventually I caved, and installed Kolourpaint, before being greeted by this sight!

What is this meant to be? I knew GNOME theming of KDE apps was awful but not unusably so!
What did I do next?
In the rush to get the thing I needed done quick, I restored my backup, did my work, then restored the pre-restore snapshot again so I could be back in GNOME. Overreaction? Yes. Was it really usable? Probably. Cheating? That's left up to you to decide. I have considered quitting, or postponing it to when I don't have any work ready, but I really want to do this challenge now. Even my GNOME hater friends called me a pussy for considering quitting out of it.
So... what now?
I am no quitter, so I'll do my very best to work around my various issues. As for my opinions on GNOME, they have significantly changed. From being very positive, they've changed to being somewhat mixed. There still are 5 days left in the challenge, so I hope that everything will get smoothed out as i get friendlier with The GNOME Workflow™.
Sorry for the shorter entry today, it was very frustrating, but I seriously do believe in it getting better with time...
